These projects were designed for my College Prep, Honors and  AP Physics B students at Holy Innocents' Episcopal School in Atlanta, GA, Greenhill School  and the Parish Episcopal School in Dallas, TX.

ROLLER COASTERS

The objective of this project is to build a paper roller coaster and analyze the conservation of energy experienced by a marble.

THE MOUSETRAP CAR

This project consists of building mousetrap cars.
The cars used a mousetrap as the sole source of energy and the students applied the concepts of friction, energy, power, torque and rotational motion in the construction of their cars.

THE ELECTRIC HOUSE

This project involves an investigation of DC circuits in series, parallel and combinations.  Here you will find the project guidelines, DC circuits resources and the pictures of the students houses.

ELECTRIC BOAT PROJECT

The objective of this project is to design and build an electric boat,
by the rules, for five meter rain gutter drag race.

PHYSICS PHOTO PROJECT

This project consists of a photo illustrating a Physics concept and an essay describing the Physics in the photo.

TOYZ AM WE

The objective of this project is to to design a toy based on a topic(s)
of physics, construct a working model of the toy, and create an advertisement campaign, complete with a title and slogan.

THE EGG DROP COMPETITION

The objective of this project is to analyze different physics principles in order to build an egg package that makes impact in the least amount of time while still protecting an uncooked egg.

THE CATAPULT PROJECT

This project involved a thorough investigation on projectile motion. The AP students designed and built working catapults and then performed calculations at various angles. The students also prepared detailed Power Point presentations.

PHYSICS AND ART

The project objective is to design and construct an art mobile around a general theme using physics to calculate the mobile's translational and rotational equilibrium.

BRIDGE BUILDING

Bridge Building Project: A Problem-Based Introduction to Engineering. These pages contain our research project, bridge resources and pictures of the students' bridges.

EINSTEIN'S BIRTHDAY

The celebration of Einstein's birthday involved a research paper and an Einstein cake contest. Visit the pages to see various pictures of the cakes.

MODEL ROCKETRY

The model rocketry project was divided into two parts: the construction and launching of  ESTES model rockets and the preparation of Power Point presentations on various aspects of Rocketry.

LIGHT AND COLOR

This project consists of either a Physics Art Project or a Physics Reasearch Paper. Visit the page to learn more about the topics and to see some work done by my students.

THE LAWNMOWER PROJECT

In this three-day practical activity the AP Physics students completely dismantled a lawnmower. They learned how all the pieces fit together and how a four-stroke-engine works.
